Job summary:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our supportive team and facilitate effective communication for all.

The new team member will be supported by our Education and wider team and work in partnership with children, young people, their families and the children’s workforce.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will deliver Speech and Language Therapy services, mostly within mainstream schools. This includes supporting universal best practice within the setting and providing services directly and through others to support the children and young people to reach their full potential.
Depending on the motivation and skills of the new team member, there may be opportunities to work within a Resource Base, with children with EHCPs, and / or undertaking ASD assessments as part of a neurodevelopmental assessment pathway.

Job responsibilities

Core responsibilities:To provide a speech and language therapy services to children as a member of the Education team:
• Provide speech, language and communication assessments and intervention in consultation with the education team and other SLTsand SLTAs
• Keep accurate records and provide written reports
• Set targets for therapy and monitor progress
• Provide intervention on an individual or group basis as required
• Develop and demonstrate SLT programmes for pupils
• Hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision
• Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the planning, development and delivery of an effective and efficient service
• Work as a key member of the team which involves participation in:
1. Clinical supervision within the team via regular meetings, supervision, mentoring and appraisals
2. Continuing professional development and implementing service improvements and evidence-based practice
3. SLT student placements
4. Induction, supervision and support of junior SLTs, SLTAs and volunteers
5. Development of SLT services and training
6. The evaluation and monitoring of services to demonstrate impact and quality of service
